I’ve been MIA from my tiny (unread?) corner of the blogosphere for the last couple of weeks due to the headache-inducing, hair-ripping-out process of finding a new place to live. My roommates and I had decided to make the big jump to real city living—no dorm room included. Sounds simple right? Find some places online, check them out and rent the one you like.
Hah. Hahaha. Hah. No.
Firstly, everything looks different online. You think you can fit two twin beds in that “queen sized” bedroom? Yeah, good luck even fitting one in there. Think you’re just going to pay month-to-month rent? Lol, no. Throw in a broker fee ($$$), a security deposit, an application fee and a guarantor application fee, plus first months rent. Then remember the fact that Manhattan real estate is some of the most expensive in the country, and you have some pretty bleak chances of finding something for 3 people in budget.
After 3 weeks of blood, sweat, and tears, we FINALLY found an apartment (and it was honestly all worth it.) My two roommates and I will be residents of the Financial District come May *cries of happiness*.
Seriously, if you want a good way to make your appetite vanish, go start looking for a place to live a month before your May 1st deadline. Pretty sure that process made me loose 5lbs (which I probs gained back yesterday just by looking at a cheeseburger.)
Sooo now that that’s over with…

It’s a rainy Monday in New York.
These are the days that I fall in love with this city all over again. Maybe it’s the way the buildings reflect in the puddles or the silver overcast that hits the top of building that makes it so romantic. Call me cliché, but after the class I’m currently not paying attention in, I’ll take some pictures, make my way down to Birch Coffee, drink a skim chai latte and people watch until I need to go back to reality (aka go listen to my history prof talk about FDR.)
OK. Done being corny.
Don’t forget to wear your Hunters.
